"Sisterhood" Girls Mentoring Group

Oak Park Middle School will be continuing the mentoring group, “Sisterhood”, on campus this year. The young women that will be chosen by staff members to participate in this great opportunity will explore and conquer barriers that young people are facing in today’s world.   We chose the name “Sisterhood” because we are family and we all need to look out for each other.

During our meetings, our focus will be on sharing strategies to assist these young ladies in being more productive, positive role models, as well as respectful women of tomorrow. Additionally, they will also serve as peer role models for the other female students at the castle. Our end goal is to have these young women and all of the young people at the castle to act suitably, be willing to assist other students, and to appropriately deal with conflict at school or conflict arising through the use of social media. We want to create a circle of support between the students to assist more with helping, befriending and caring about each other, instead of bullying and belittling their peers.

We will be meeting on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30.
