The MDHS track team sent 8 athletes to the state championships this year, and they delivered outstanding performances on the biggest stage! Countless hours of hard work, early mornings, tough workouts, and dedication led to these final moments of the season.
* Reese Horbal placed 10th in the state in high jump
* Late Guthrie placed 13th in long jump
* Lillian Gittens, our school record holder, placed 16th in javelin
* Cayden McCoy placed 12th in the state and took shots at the school record at states
* Tristan Lorentz, our school record holder, placed 16th in javelin
* Josiah Sellers placed 10th in pole vault
* Gabriel Lewis, our school record holder in the 5K, 1600, and 3200, placed 10th in the 1600 and was personally interviewed by Bill Jenkins after an incredible race
* Cecelia Lear placed 9th in the 3200, breaking her own school record for the second time after just taking it from Noelle Vu at regionals, running an 11:07 with an incredible finishing kick
We will truly miss our seniors, Cayden McCoy and Tristan Lorentz, and everything they brought to this program. The future is bright, and everyone returning is hungry to come back stronger than ever!

April is the Month of the Military Family in Florida! Students and staff were asked to “Purple Up!” today, April 15, 2026, by wearing purple as a visible way to show support and thank military children. Purple was chosen because it is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military. It is a combination of Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine Corps red, Space Force blue and Navy blue. Did you purple up? If so, post your photo on your personal social media page with #LCSPurpleUp2026
