It is with a heavy heart that I reflect on the state of our nation in the aftermath of the tragic and senseless death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. I can’t help but wonder how all of this is impacting our children. This is a teachable moment and it is my hope that we will use this opportunity to address the issues of inequality both locally and across the nation.
Working together, we can spread hope and trust and ensure a brighter future for every child. Here in Lake County, as groups are coming together to peacefully assemble against the injustice at the root of all the pain we are seeing and feeling, I urge all participants to execute their constitutional right to gather and be heard safely and to serve as positive role models for our children.
As your Superintendent, I believe we can continue our positive path forward where every child in Lake County feels safe, respected and loved.
