Hands applauding with wording that says More Lake County Public Schools Earn an A. District logo is at the top.

TAVARES -- While the Lake County school district continues to celebrate its recently announced โ€œAโ€ rating from the Florida Department of Education, several schools within the district are celebrating their โ€œAโ€ ratings as well.

In fact, more than twice as many district-operated public schools in Lake earned an โ€œAโ€ for the 2024-25 school year compared to the year before.

In 2023-24, three district-operated Lake schools earned an A. In 2024-25, seven did. The โ€œAโ€ rated district-operated schools for this year are as follows:

  • Cypress Ridge Elementary has had a continuous streak of A grades since 2018 and continued that streak this year.

  • Similarly, East Ridge Middleโ€™s streak stretches back to 2017 and continued this year.

  • Mount Dora High earned an A for the second year in a row.

  • Treadway Elementary and Lake Virtual School both jumped from a C last year to an A this year.

  • East Ridge High and the Villages Elementary both moved up from a B last year to an A this year.

Another Lake school success story is Beverly Shores Elementary, which moved up from a C to a B this year, its highest grade since 2009.

No Lake schools were graded F.

The Florida Department of Education calculates school and district grades based on math, science, reading and social studies assessment scores, along with student achievement, learning gains and graduation rates.

โ€œI am so proud of our teachers, administrators, support staff, and students,โ€ said Lake County Schools  Superintendent Diane Kornegay. โ€œThey put in the work, and they are reaping the rewards. The greatest reward, however, goes to our students as they develop the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in post-secondary education, the military, or the workforce. We are elevating learning in Lake!โ€
