Congratulations to East Ridge High School for recently winning the Division 4A State Championship for Unified Flag Football for the second year in a row!
Unified sports bring together students with and without intellectual disabilities to play on the same team. The concept was inspired by the belief that training and playing together leads to friendship and understanding.
Mount Dora High School was a state runner-up in the Division 2A State Championship for Unified Flag Football, and Tavares High won 4th place.
Though they did not make it to the state championship, Eustis High School played Unified Flag Football team this season, as well.
The following schools participated in Unified Bowling: Lake Minneola, East Ridge, Mount Dora, Tavares, and Eustis high schools. Eustis and Tavares were in the top 8 out of 32 teams and participated in the state championship bowling competition.
