Lake Minneola High Schoolโ€™s advanced mixed choir, SoLa Voce, has been selected to perform in Walt Disney Worldโ€™s Candlelight Processional at EPCOT on Christmas Day.

The choir, made up primarily of students in grades 10-12 with a few freshman participating as substitutes, will perform at 5 p.m. on Ghursday, December 25, as part of this nationally recognized holiday tradition. Participation in the Candlelight Processional is determined through a highly selective audition process and features only a limited number of outstanding choirs from across the country, making this a significant honor for the students and the school.

โ€œThis tradition is something so many families look forward to each year, and for our singers to help tell the Christmas story on Christmas Day makes the experience especially meaningful,โ€ said Ian Tapson, director of choirs at the school.

The annual event is a popular part of EPCOTโ€™s Festival of the Holidays, with performances nightly during the holiday season. It features a celebrity narrator reading the Christmas story from the Bible, accompanied by a large orchestra and a mass choir including Disney cast members and high school students. They sing carols and create a festive retelling of the nativity story at the America Gardens Theatre. The celebrity narrator who will read during Lake Minneolaโ€™s performance is Joel David Smallbone of the Christian pop duo, For King & Country.

โ€œThis is a moment of pride for our choir, our school, and our entire community,โ€ Tapson said, โ€œand one that the students will carry with them for a lifetime.โ€
