The Florida High School Athletic Association has named Mount Dora High School as a recipient of the 2025-26 Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes member schools that promote sportsmanship on and off the field.
Mount Dora is one of 12 high schools awarded. Two middle schools were awarded as well.
"It is our privilege to once again recognize and celebrate the outstanding sportsmanship demonstrated by our member schools," said Craig Damon, FHSAA Executive Director. "High school athletics provide invaluable lessons that extend far beyond competition, and the schools being honored as the 2026 Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award winners exemplify those values every day. Their student-athletes, coaches, administrators, parents, and fans consistently model respect, integrity, and character, reflecting the very best of educational athletics."
The award, presented annually since 1991, is named in honor of FHSAA Commissioner Emeritus Fred E. Rozelle.
The Fred E. Rozelle Sportsmanship Award is presented to one school in each classification whose total sports program best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship as demonstrated by its coaches, players, and spectators. Awards are also given to a runner-up within each classification. Criteria for selection of the winners includes programs and activities implemented within the school and community to promote sportsmanship; the number and type of exceptional sportsmanship reports; and the source of the nomination.
"Winning this award is a testament to the pride our coaches and student athletes have in our school and community," Mount Dora High School Principal Kyle Bracewell said. "To me, this is bigger than any team or individual championship. It reflects the commitment of Mount Dora High School to doing things the right way both on and off the field of play."
Classification winners receive $2,500 and a commemorative plaque. Runners-up receive $500 and a plaque.
