 Professional Education Competence (PEC) Program

This program is one of the Florida Department of Education requirements to move from a temporary to a professional teaching certificate.   This program is necessary for educators who have not completed a senior internship in a school setting.

Charter Schools Educators

Lake County Schools is the reporting agency for any charter schools that do not have their own state-approved program.  Please click on the Professional Education Competence (PEC) Program button above to access the six documents you will need to complete, scan, and email.

Which PEC Verification Card should I complete?

  • If 1) your charter school uses Marzano as their observation tool, and 2) you are a classroom teacher, you may use the PEC Verification tool titled Template – Professional Education Competence aligned to TEAM. 

  • If 1) your charter school uses the Evaluation Rubric for Student Services Professional Practices in a Multi-Tiered System of Support as their observation tool, and 2) you are a school counselor, psychologist, or social worker, you may use the PEC Verification tool titled Template – Professional Education Competence aligned to TEAM_SSPEM. 

  • All other educators use the TIP Professional Education Verification for Charter Schools
